Calvert, Kristin. (2015). Maximizing academic library collections: Measuring changes in
use patterns owing to EBSCO discovery service. College and Research Libraries, 76(1), 81-99. 10.5860/crl.76.1.81

The digital collection is constantly changing depending on demand for specific content. The print collection is also changing as much of it is being replaced with e-books. Each part of the collection is weeded differently depending on the time sensitive nature of the content. The digital tools for finding the materials also affect how frequently items circulate, so different discovery methods are tested. Surprisingly, ome open-source resources are being rejected because of their tendency to retrieve results that are not carried in the library. The article suggests that libraries invest more time and money into e-books.
