Stealth control: Steven Aftergood appraises a study on the hidden impacts of personal data collection
Nature 517.7535 (Jan

This article is a great reminder of our reliance on Google and how much information we freely give out without even knowing it. The algorithmic tracking and filtering by Google does not protect our privacy and creates an identity for us that we might not create for ourselves. Essentially, Google is directing our thinking in two ways: One, by creating tailored research results according to what we input into our searches on the average; two, because we a receiving tailored results we are limited to the knowledge that Google is giving us. It makes sense that we should be using many databases for research and not giving Google our lives.
